As each plantation matures, harvesting is undertaken to reduce competition and to remove trees of poor form. In most cases, this process is undertaken by mechanical harvesting equipment that falls the trees, removes the bark and cuts each log into desirable lengths for transport to markets.
Prior to each harvesting operation, a Timber Harvesting Plan is drawn up and submitted to the local shire. This ensures that all legal, environmental and safety precautions are followed during the process.
