| Each investment established by Heartwood Plantations accumulates salable carbon as the trees grow. Like the wood produced from each plantation, the carbon is owned entirely by the investor. There are currently a range of informal voluntary carbon markets which can provide payments for carbon accumulated in plantations. However, with the onset of carbon trading in Australia, more opportunities for carbon sales will soon become available in formally recognised markets. Heartwood Plantations will provide recommendations for plantation investors as opportunities in these new markets are presented from 2010. |
